| News Gala Night - Meeting Review A spectacular showing of 11 Bears made the trip to Eastbourne for Gala Night. Heat 1 involved half of the available cars with only 2 Bears getting out before the gates closed. A rather roddy race after Chatty Man retired from the race after hitting a Condom & 'Thug' hit 297 head on. Heat 2 saw the rest of the pack take to the track & an action packed race. 'Nutty Nige' & 'Jambo' both hitting 900, 'Jambo' also tested the strength of the RX8 out on track. 701 a 'groom to be' out in his first banger hit the wall, only to be hit head on by 'Nutty Nige', a warm Bear welcome to banger racing! 322 tussled with 'Wally' who cleverly put on his brakes allowing his team mate 'Ace Ash' to hit the sitting duck with a sweet shot. All the above meant only Bears & 245 were left running & a very busy pit bend. 'Nutty Nige' & 'Wally' blocked the small gap to stop 245 making it through but move timely for the 3 racing Bears to race past, bringing laughter from the crowd. 245 regained momentum only to be t-boned by 'Wally', 245 spun 207 'Compo' & 'Wally' finally took him out of the race by pushing him onto the grass. The race ending a Bear 1,2,3 - a very rare occurance. The Allcomers also had a healthy showing of Bears. Karly getting thick into the action pushing a Volvo Estate into the wall leaving him prime for a fantastic shot from 'Motormouth'. 924 hit 'Wally' head on & 'Compo' took a revenge shot on the Ant Hill Mob member. 1 lap before the chequered flag 365 Bug couldn't believe his bad luck when 'Nutty Nige' spun him out allowing 204 to take 1st place. The Final was arguably the best race of the night. A massive hit from Jackstar on 900 left him sitting in the fence facing the wrong way. 319 hit 900 & 'Nutty Nige' pushed 556 ferociously into 319. 264 spun 711 'Chunky' & 'Nutty Nige' & 'Motormouth' went in on 264 hard. A push & shove fight ensued between the Bears & Condoms. A Condom latching onto 'Nutty Nige' pushed the yank down the straight, another Condom joined in & finally 'Jambo' joined the slow moving train. Meanwhile 'Karly' takes the win in front of 785 'Jambo' & '158 Shane Davies. The DD as always included as many Bears as possible with the last 2 running being - 'Compo' & 'Nutty Nige', the superior yank of 'Nutty Nige' making the last leap & winning concluding a fantastic night of winning & wrecking for all involved. Blockbuster - Meeting Review The eagerly anticipated Blockbuster event took place on the 28th August & certainly did not disappoint! A track full of Bears, with Pikey, Nemesis & Brett Ellacott thrown into the mix ensured races full of action. A rough start saw 'Ace Ash' blow his engine before the day even began & an impressive show of teamwork meant a complete engine change in time for the Final. All the Bears barr 'Ace Ash' were out in Heat 2, a red flag a few laps in due to a spectacular roll from 747 meant a restart. The first of the action came after MNR 514 pushed 'Ozzie' to the wall leaving him a sitting target for 239 'Nemesis', 241 Liam Cracknell flew into 'Nemesis & managed to pull away leaving 'Nemesis' sat for a great shot from 'Nutty Nige', untangling himself from the web 'Nemesis' then received the full length of the straight from 'Motormouth'. 514 spinning himself on the corner received a hefty head on from 'Nutty Nige' to finish the action for Heat 2. The Final was next & the first chance for the track to be filled with all attendees. The biggest action came a few laps in when 47 Marcus A'Lee left his Hearse sitting against the wall, never one to miss a crowd pleasing shot 'Nutty Nige' obliterated the Hearse, his Volvo flying through the back brought out red flags. 'Nutty Niges' hit on 508 brought the red flags out again & after the restart 528 'Jethro' was crowned Blockbuster 2011 Champion after a truly impressive drive. The Allocomers brought the race of the day & what Blockbuster 2011 will be remembered for. 508 putting 'Nutty Nige' in the wall left 'Nemesis' able to repay 'Nutty Niges' shot from Heat 2 pulling off a terrific shot into the back of 'Nutty Nige', never far away from a Bear is another Bear, only this time there were two! 'Compo' & 'Motormouth' flying into Nemesis at almost exactly the same time. 'Pikey' then getting caught up with 269 came to a stop on the track leaving 'Ace Ash' to take advantage, 'Nemesis' joining the fun a lap later tucked into 'Ace Ash'. Managing another lap 'Ace Ash' got caught again by 'Nemesis' who then left him for 162 to jack, 162 left 'Ace Ash' sat in the wall for 'Pikey' to pull off a stonking shot caging 'Ace Ash', 360 'Jackstar followed the action in with an equally impressive shot on 'Pikey', 'Nemesis' then piled in followed by 702 'Jimbo' to finish the train. A sequence of hard hitting shots brought massive cheers from the fans. 'Nutty Nige' struggling to steer put himself in the wall & in return received a t-bone from 162 & a head on from 225. Meanwhile 'Jambo' & 'Nemesis' exchanged shots on each other before 'Jethro' & 'Jambo' engaged in a tussle bringing the race to a close. The last race of the day saw all Bears except 'Ace Ash' return to the track, 'Ozzie' thick in the action was put in the middle by 'Pikey'. 'Motormouth' gained some life out of his Supra & hit an oncoming 'Pikey' with 'Ozzie' not far behind to t-bone him. 162 Ellacott t-boned a stationary 'Motormouth'. Almost lifeless the limo of 841 nudged 'Ozzie', 162 with only 3 wheels impressively got going again & t-boned 'Ozzie', 841 hit 162 to end the DD & was declared the winner. An epic days racing, hard hitting, fast, action packed & all ended with handshakes & smiles. What banger racing should be about!!
St Day locals show their support for the Bears: Curtis - 12, Daniel - 9, Nico - 8, Kian - 9, Liam - 10 & Callum - 9 Blockbuster - Team News An exciting return fixture on the Bears calendar will see 6 Bears travel to Cornwall to race this years 'Blockbuster' event at United Downs Raceway. 421 'Nutty Nige', 521 'Ace Ash', 221 'Motormouth', 28 'Ozzie', 207 'Compo' & 785 'Jambo' will join an impressive list of (at present) 48 other drivers, in what could potentially be a fantastic meeting. With awards on offer such as 'Best Presented', 'Rarest Car', 'Wrecker of the Day', 'Best Hit of the Day' & 'Blockbuster Trier of the Day', we are set to see an action packed days racing. WoS Wildcard - Meeting Review A last chance qualifier for this years World of Shale saw a great turn out of cars with 7 Bears making the trip to Kings Lynn, most within reach of making the top 15 to qualify. Unsurprisingly the first heat, the last chance race, was a little actionless. Despite 'Jethro' spinning 'Ace Ash', (an action he would later regret), 'Ace Ash' finished 2nd, picking up vital points. Other noteable moments throughout the day were the revenge shot on 'Jethro', an impeccable moment of teamwork between two brothers 'Ace Ash' & 'Motormouth' which saw Ash spin 'Jethro' landing him against the wall & within seconds 'Motormouth' jacking 'Jethro' with an immense shot. The DD proved to be the highlight of the day, with nearly all the Bears returning to the track & 'Motormouth' stealing the show. Jacking the rock solid Toyota Previa of father 'Nutty Nige' on more than one occasion & blitzing the hearse of 925. A great show of ladies bangers also saw our very own Stacy Marriott, partner of 331 'Wally' take to the track in her very first unlimited meeting, & surely not her last. The points at the end of the day mean 133 'Karly', 421 'Nutty Nige' & 521 'Ace Ash' will all appear in the World of Shale Final on 3rd September, they will be joined by 207 'Compo', 331 'Wally' & 221 'Motormouth' each entered by their promoters & tracks. Bandit Memorial - Meeting Review A good turn out of cars, including a healthy Predators team ensured a great days racing. 9 Bears travelled to Bandit Memorial, some hoping to gain WoS points, some for the crash & some for the first time!! A lively first lap in Heat 1 saw 'Nutty Nige' t-bone 27 King leaving him sat prime for 'Ace Ash' to lengthen him. Predator 401 'Psycho' gave Wally the head on, only to be repaid later with a great shot from 711 'Chunky'. 79 'Twelly' jacked 'Nutty Nige' to start a feud that would last the day. Heat 2 was 232 'Waterboys' moment to take to the track for the first time & he decided to do it in style, jacking 443 'Harvey' to start a 5 car train that 'Wally' finished off with a great shot on 390 'Gibbo'. Meanwhile at the other end of the track another train was unfolding, 185 'Polly' getting caught up with 33 Simon Reed meant 22 Matty High took his chance & jacked her, 169 'JT' not wanting to miss an inviting shot, got stuck into 22 & reversed off, 'Ace Ash' coming down the straight thought exactly the same thing & pulled off the hit of the day, caging 22. A quieter Heat 3 saw a return shot from 'Nutty Nige' on 79 'Twelly' & a great piece of 'spinning & binning', 'Compo' spinning 186 for an oncoming 321 'Chatty Man' to impressively bin. Polly Reade was in the action again in the Final when 'Nutty Nige' jacked her, reversing off the wreck 'Twelly' saw another opportunity & ended the day long feud with their last tussle. The traditional 'never say die' attitude of the Bears meant 6 of the 9 returned for the DD with 3 other cars. 48 ran 'Compo' around the wall, 232 'Waterboy' spotting the action from behind decided to introduce himself to the Hearse with a great shot. With 'Ace Ash' the last car running the driver of the Hearse waves him in, never one to shy away from a crash 'Ace Ash' raced the full length of the track to t-bone the Hearse. An earlier promise that 'he was going to do them' to the new young guns of the team meant 'Ace Ash' took advantage of the motionless track jacking the car of 232 'Waterboy' & a patiently waiting 321 'Chatty Man'. A great days racing for everyone & 2 new members for the team, who both have every bit the Bears spirit inside them & definitely ones to watch for the future! Bandit Memorial - Team News With under a week to go & 102 cars already booked in Bandit Memorial 2011 is set to live up to last year's epic meeting. 9 Bears will take to the track this year, with the usual faces 'Nutty Nige', 'Ace Ash', 'Wally', 'Karly', 'Compo', 'Thug' & 'Chunky' all returning in the hope to secure vital WoS points. The Bears young guns will also be taking part with a racing debut for 232 Justin 'Waterboy' Pollard & an unlimited meeting debut for 321 Keiron 'Chatty Man' Fry. Trigger Memorial - Meeting Review A memorial meeting for Trigger 294 was always going to be a memorable meeting, however I don't believe anyone would have anticipated quite how good & quite how memorable the meeting would become. A superb show of cars, an unquestioned dedication from the drivers to keep their cars returning to the track & some incredible trains, pile ups & wrecks made this meeting one that is going to be tough to beat this year! A minutes round of applause set off the day with the cars invited to race the memorial heat out on track. 'Karly', 'Ace Ash', 'Motormouth' & 'Nutty Nige' all invited to participate, joined 28 other drivers. Some great crashing, a 7 car train involving 'Karly' & 'Nutty Nige' & some terrific racing from Triggers best friend 622 Gary Webb meant a fitting win for the Trigger Memorial Trophy. The first Allcomers heat gave us the action we would all be talking about. No less than 40 cars made it out onto the track, resulting in a mass pile up on the pit bend. With a Mk2 Granada shell up for grabs for 'Entertainer of the Meeting', no car avoided the carnage, resulting in an immense scene of wrecking with shots piling in every second. An Ovalchat vote would decide the winner of 'Entertainer of the Meeting' & a superb day not only of his own wrecking (particluarly caging 555 Shifty) but also taking some cracking shots & still pulling his car out to get it back on track meant with 47 votes 'Nutty Nige' won. A family man with a big heart, Nige decided to put the Granada shell back up for auction with any proceeds being made to be donated to Triggers daughter. A big thanks to all those involved in what was a hugely successful day & a day that Trigger 294 would have been proud of! Wasted Mag Interview - Motormouth Issue 87 of Wasted Magazine features an interview with Bears member ‘Motormouth’. Under the heading “Hot Property”, Justin gives a two page interview hailed as one of the “most interesting, not to mention honest, interviews had in Wasted for some time”… “Love them or not, there is no denying that on the crashing front at least, the Bears are one of the sports leading & most popular teams & it’s been far too long since we featured a member of the team in Wasted. So in order to address that problem we spoke to one of the squads leading young stars, Justin ‘Motormouth’ Riley, & the 22 year old rewarded us with one of the most interesting, not to mention honest, interviews we’ve had in Wasted for some time…” To read the full and frank interview, be sure to buy Issue 87 of Wasted!! Crasharama - Meeting Review Despite dwindling numbers & a typically wet bank holiday Monday, a show of 30+ cars & a traditional track blocking pile up meant Crasharama didn't disappoint. 8 Bears attended the meeting with guest drivers 124 'Oris' & 257 'Waterboy' joining the regular faces. The main event was first on the programme, 32 cars lined up with all 8 Bears on the starting grid. The main action was the 8 car train which included 3 Bears, 'Nutty Nige' always thick in the action stuck into a Wildboy, 149 of the Wildboys jacked 'Nutty Nige' & guest driver 124 'Oris' earned "hit of the day" with an immense shot on 149, two other drivers joined the action & 207 'Compo' ended the train by nailing 147, leaving himself a sitting target that surprisingly no-one decided to take advantage of! 'Ace Ash' led the race until the last lap when he was spun into a dead motor by eventual winner 'Dodge' & 'Ozzie' crossed the line in 3rd place. The first Allcomers, a much quieter affair, 19 cars on track with 8 Bears reappearing. 265 'Disco Stu' nailed 'Nutty Nige' & on the same lap threw away his lead to join a train on the bend, only to be jacked by a disgruntled 'Motormouth' Allcomers 2 provided the traditional track blockage with everyone flying into the corner. 'Compo' was picked up by 989 'Deano' half way down the straight & followed in. The pile up caused red flags & only 8 cars survived for the restart. 241 who was thick in the action all day took advantage of 'Ozzie' spinning himself on the corner & gave him a sweet head on, with a lap to go 241 again hits 'Ozzie' head on unsuspecting 'Karly' coming around the corner & nailing 241, for good measure 'Nutty Nige' gives 241 a final t-bone! The 11 car death saw 'Motormouth', 'Karly', 'Nutty Nige' & 'Ozzie' return. 'Ozzie' spotted 265 on the corner & hit him head on, then in a display of perfect team work 'Karly' pushed 265 so that an oncoming 'Motormouth' could give him a stonking t-bone. 691 sitting on the corner waves 'Ozzie' in twice to end his day. 'Ozzie' jacks teammate 'Motormouth', gives 'Karly' a head on & finishes the DD following in 'Karly' & is declared the winner. Crasharama XIII - Team News Crasharama XIII is upon us once again with the action taking place on 30th May at Smeatharpe Stadium. 6 Bears, ‘Ace Ash’, ‘Nutty Nige’, ‘Motormouth’, ‘Ozzy’, ‘Karly’ & ‘Compo’ will definitely be at the occasion with ‘Trouble’ & ‘Jambo’ both hoping to join the party if their cars are ready on time. Despite last year’s dwindling numbers & scrutineering issues, drivers & fans alike came away smiling at the wrecking that had taken place – notably the incredible 1st & 2nd lap pile up in the Crasharama XII Final which meant the race was declared void & drivers given a second attempt at the Final!! A host of awards on offer including Best Presented Cars, Oldest Car, Longest Car, £2000 prize money & the coveted Crasharama title will ensure some impressive tin & some impressive racing on the day. R.I.P Steven 'Trigger' Martindale A well known & well liked friend of the team sadly passed away this week. 294 'Trigger', a guest of The Bears on many occasions was a young & exciting driver who impressed all over the country. Admired by his fans & peers, his death will leave a hole in the banger racing world & he will be sorely missed by us all. Our sincerest condolences go out to Stevens family & friends at this difficult time. R.I.P Trigger, from The Bears Big Van Bangers - Meeting Review A late decision to race the Big Van Bangers at Arlington saw 331 ‘Wally’, 785 ‘Jambo’, 421 ‘Nutty Nige’, 521 ‘Ace Ash’ & 28 ‘Ozzy’ take to the track for what was a very amusing day. ‘Nutty Nige’ dominated the day in his bus, taking home a 1st, 2nd, 3rd & a win in the DD, after what was a fight to the end between Squad member 728 ‘Spike’ & himself. Previous to the DD there were some noteable moments, including 598 ‘Millsy’ making a nuisance of himself, reversing into the oncoming traffic to ensure he took some stonking hits from all of the field, including ‘Ace Ash’, ‘Nutty Nige’ & ‘Wally’ & also ‘Ace Ashs’ spectacular hit on 182 ‘Mad Mike’ which I’m sure would have been one of the highlights of the day. Shamwreck - Meeting Review A team of 7 Bears travelled across the Irish Sea to attend Shamwreck 2011, always a favourite meeting in the Bears calendar, it certainly didn’t disappoint. 133 ‘Karly’ & 521 ‘Nutty Nige’ were included in Heat 1, which was tame in Shamwreck terms. ‘Karly’ received a sweet t-bone from 148 of the Madhatters & ‘Nutty Nige’ brought home a heat win. Heat 2 involved what is sure to be the follow in of the banger season & ultimately what Shamwreck 2011 will be remembered for. A battle between the Bears & a team made up of several ex Team Extreme members saw 474 ‘Matty’ take a disliking to two motionless Bears ‘Compo’ & ‘Wally’. 'Compo’ after being put in the wall, made his way to the edge of the infield, leaving himself a sitting duck for oncoming 474 ‘Matty’ who careered into his rear quarter, Mob member ‘Naisy’ decided to give ‘Compo’ a helping hand to get going again (whilst hoping that some oncoming traffic was coming his way), Bears team mate ‘Trouble’, taking offence to ‘Naisys’ treatment of ‘Compo’ got stuck in to the Rolls Royce. As with ‘Compo’, ‘Wally’ had been put into the wall & was sat motionless when 474 ‘Matty’ jacked him, he may have wished he hadn’t when an oncoming ex Team Savage member 194 gave him a ferocious t-bone which saw 474 ‘Mattys’ day end. A red flag incident forced a restart & ‘Mattys’ team mate, Shamwreck 2010 winner 271 Mark Dalgarno probably couldn’t believe his luck when ‘Ace Ash’ was placed behind him. As soon as the flag was waved ‘Ace Ash’ picked up 271, following him in for half of the straight, introducing him to the bend, a mixture of small post & wire & Marks decision to brake meant that what happened next was quite astonishing. Like a tin can the Series 3 Jag of 271 snapped in half, amazingly & thankfully Mark walked away from the wreck & the race was called. A lively final, 44 ‘Trouble’ was put in the wall by 116 which was to be the start of a pile up on the bend, never one to miss the action ‘Nutty Nige’ followed 116 into the pack. 28 Matty McKiernan spun ‘Ace Ash’ on the same corner which left ‘Ace Ash’ lined up for a head on which 17 gladly supplied, 133 ‘Karly’ coming around the corner seconds later saw this & joined in the fun. Later 146 pushed ‘Nutty Nige’ into stationary 456, ‘Nutty Nige’ instantly turning it around chased 146 across the infield, as 146 gets away he gives 173 Reynolds an immense revenge t-bone, trying to pull away he is picked up by 360 ‘Jackstar’ & pushed right into the path of a disgruntled ‘Nutty Nige’ who hits him head on, they continue to smash 7 shades out of each other for the rest of the race, whilst everyone else carries on oblivious, and the race ends with ‘Fagass’ of team Last Rites taking home the Shamwreck 2011 title! All 7 seven Bears in typical style made it out for the DD. ‘Fagass’ the new Shamwreck champion gave ‘Wally’ a stonking length shot. 811 of Team Buckle chased ‘Nutty Nige’ across the infield & caught him perfectly, bouncing off the wall ‘Nutty Nige’ kept going, coming around again it was a case of déjà vu when 811 came across the infield & t-boned ‘Nutty Nige’. 44 ‘Trouble’ who was on a mission, hitting everything in sight, chased 97 across the infield, ‘Trouble’ was then spun by 97, ‘Motormouth’ who by now had got his car running again, chased 97 across the infield & jacked him into ‘Trouble’. 811 Keiran McIvor, winner of the Dash for Cash was crowned winner of the DD & for his efforts throughout the day Bears team member 44 ‘Trouble’ was named “Entertainer of the Day”. A great days racing topped off what was a great weekend, The Bears would like to thank the Irish for their hospitality & for all the travelling fans who made the atmosphere electric, a special well done to ‘Fagass’ & 811 Kieron for their Shamwreck & DD wins & we look forward to coming back next year! Shamwreck - Team News Shamwreck 2011 - hailed as “Irelands Biggest Unlimited Banger Bash of the Year” is just around the corner, with the action taking place on Sunday 17th April. As always, an impressive looking Bears team consisting of 28 ‘Ozzy’, 44 ‘Trouble’, 133 ‘Karly’, 207 ‘Compo’, 221 ‘Motormouth’, 331 ‘Wally’, 421 ‘Nutty Nige’ & 521 ‘Ace Ash’ will make the trip over the water to take part in what is a memorable racing weekend of the season. Each team member will be the one hoping to regain the Shamwreck title that was lost last year to Team Extreme member Mark Dalgarno. Previous winners include ‘Karly’ (2009), ‘Ace Ash’ (2008) & ‘Motormouth’ in 2007. Who will be Shamwreck Champion 2011?! East Anglian Final - Meeting Review The East Anglian Championship took place on Saturday 19th March & saw 11 Bears take to the track. An impressive line up of 80+ bangers with ‘The Predators’ also putting in a large team, ensured a terrific days racing. A more racing than wrecking Heat 1 involved ‘Wally’ & ‘Karly’. ‘Wally’ putting in a fantastic drive to come home in first place, gaining him valuable World of Shale points boosting him to within reach of the Top 15. Heat 2 - a much more lively affair, involved 7 Bears & was a brilliant show of equal team battles, with The Predators vs. Bears action. Noteable moments included ‘Chimps’ battle with Team Black member Beasley 67 in a smart Hearse. ‘Chimp’ being spun on the second lap by ‘67‘, only to pull out in front of the Beasley coming around on his third lap & being hit again, although this time ‘67’ left himself in a prime position for ‘Chimps’ oncoming team mate ‘Ace Ash’ to pull off a superb t-bone. ‘Jambo’ continued his great record of going for it with The Bears & couldn’t resist a set up head on, only for a lurking Predator to spot the action & do ‘Jambo’ in return. ‘Pyscho’ annihilates 207 ‘Compo’, 294 ‘Trigger’ helps his Bears team mate out, only for 79 ‘Twelly’, never shy on taking on The Bears, to say hello to ‘Trigger’ with a lovely shot. Previously mentioned ‘Twelly’ was thick in the action again at the end of the race. ‘Chimp’ being spun over the line in 7th place, only to pull away in front of ‘Twelly’ who gives ‘Chimp’ the full length of the start/finish line straight. 169 ‘JT’ although in Cowboy colours on the day crossed the line in 4th place, & new regular of The Bears ‘Jambo’ crossed the line in 5th. The Final (severely delayed due to the injury of 237 - whom we wish a speedy recovery) was a relatively quiet race. ‘Karly’ clearly going for World of Shale points drove a brilliant race, coming home in 1st place & earning him the title of East Anglian Champion, boosting him to the top of the WoS leader table. 6 cars made it out for the DD, 3 Bears with ‘Compo‘, ‘Nutty Nige’ & ‘Motormouth’ making the most of the day. And although only three other contenders in Predator Gibbo, Stanley Crew member 196 & 925 Preece, they put up a great fight, but 207 ‘Compo’ joined ‘Karly’ & ‘Wally’ in picking up winners trophies for their days achievements. The days racing leaves 5 Bears in the Top 15, ‘Karly’, ‘Nutty Nige’, ‘Ace Ash’, ‘JT’ & ‘Motormouth’, with ‘Chimp’ and ‘Wally’ very close behind in 19th & 20th respectively. With one meeting left to gain points, who will end up in the Top 15 is anyone’s guess… East Anglian Final - Team News A similar looking line up to last year's East Anglian Final will be at Kings Lynn on the 19th March for the 2011 East Anglian Final, with 44 'Trouble', 622 'Gazza' & 294 'Trigger' adding to the impressive looking 2010 list. Last year saw 133 'Karly', 221 'Motormouth', 421 'Nutty Nige', 169 'JT', 207 'Compo', 331 'Wally', 521 'Ace Ash' & 726 'Chimp' take to the track in what was a disappointing meeting due to the weather. Fingers will be crossed that this year's meeting will be dryer & the track in a lot better condition. This year we will see 169 'JT', 207 'Compo' & 521 'Ace Ash' join 221 'Motormouth' & 421 'Nutty Nige' in the Yellow grade, with all other drivers graded as White, starting at the front of the grid. The East Anglian Final is the penultimate chance to gain points for the World of Shale before the final qualifying takes place at Bandit Memorial in June. With 6 out of the 7 TSR registered drivers in full contention for a place in the Top 15, this may be a very significant meeting for the drivers, particularly for 169 'JT' who is on the cusp of the Top 15 in 16th place & 726 'Chimp' who is in 21st place on joint points with three other drivers placed above him. 521 'Ace Ash', 133 'Karly' & 221 'Motormouth' are already placed in the Top 15, whilst 421 'Nutty Nige' is high up in the table in second place & all will hope to remain there after this meeting. Icebreaker - Meeting Review Sunday saw the much anticipated Unlimited Icebreaker roll around and it certainly didn't disappoint. An array of quality motors lined up for each race, including the Cadillac Fleetwood 68 of 133 'Karly', which earned him the 'Oldest/Rarest Award'. A mixture of racing & wrecking was on order for the day, with each & every one of the 9 Heats, Final & DD including at least one of the 15 Bears. Some notable moments for The Bears throughout the day included guest Bear 710 'Herbert the Teeth' taking to the track for what was to become his only outing of the day after an epic hit on Mob member 440, only to be followed in by 215 of the Wildboyz in Heat 1. Heat 2 involved a great looking Bears A team, a team made up of some of the sport's biggest hitters showed what else they can do & put on a fantastic display of driving skill, a moment of 'spinning & binning' saw 221 'Motormouth' spin 169 'Rushton' 360 degrees, setting him up nicely for the incoming 79 'Twelly' to nail him, and 521 'Nutty Nige' to finish the job off with a monster hit on 'Twelly', however the driving shone through & saw, Nige, Ash & Justin cross the line in 6th, 7th & 8th respectively. Heat 3 saw a regular trio with guest 'Jambo' take to the track, with the latter blowing up Predators member 350 'Evans' in the wall, Wildboyz 43 soon joined the fun giving 785 'Jambos' yank some rear end attention & 207 'Compo' wouldn't let the train finish without a Bear on the end & introduced himself to 43. Stanley Crew team member 237 buried himself into the side of 704's smart Limo in Heat 4, 133 'Karly' buried him further in with a hefty shot in the boot, 223 'Bushy' spotted his team member getting intimate with 'Karlys' bonnet & refused to drive past without getting involved. A battle commenced in Heat 5, 213 'Woka' giving 331 'Wally' a head on, which saw team mate 521 'Ace Ash' seek revenge & repay the favour to 'Wokas' smart Cadillac Coupe DeVille on the run down lap. Bears C & D teamed up in Heat 6, Predator Wayne Dolan ended up in the wall & 880 of the Mob followed him in, 776 sees his Predator team mate in distress & teaches 880 a lesson in teamwork, although he may have wished he didn't when guesting Bear 711 'Chunky' added to the train with a monster hit on 776 which saw 880 bent in half. Seeking some points, last minute guest 124 'Oris' & 207 'Compo' drove great races which earned them 3rd & 5th respectively & despite 785 'Jambos' previous hit on 31 'Drupje' he crossed the line in a respectable 6th position. 133 'Karly' & 28 'Ozzie' returned for Heat 7, with 'karly' t-boning 159 'Wrecker', & 'Ozzie' finishing 10th. In Heat 8, 207 'Compos' eyes lit up when he spotted 360 'Jackstar' at the end of a train & decided Icebreaker was the day he would repay 'Jackstars' immense hit on him at HMC with a great follow in. 421 'Nutty Nige' & son 221 'Motormouth' teamed up in Heat 9, Nige pulled off a great hit on 742, leaving him nicely in the wall for 'Motormouth' coming around the corner to finish him off. Reversing off the wreck 'Motormouth' was caught in a Damage Inc & Wildboyz battle, 779 following in 149 of the Wildboyz, released 'Motormouth', & team mates 28 'Ozzie' & 421 'Nutty Nige' couldn't resist a crash & ploughed into the fiasco. 331 'Wally' was rolled by 'Psycho' forcing red flags, the restart saw 'Ace Ash' cross the line in 3rd, followed by 'Motormouth' & 'Ozzie' in 8th & 10th. The Final featured 7 Bears, a mammouth pile up ensued, with few cars missing the action, & 221 'Motormouth' pulled off an extraordinary shot on Midnight Runner 'Jonesey'. When the wreckage was pulled apart the extent of the damage was well worth the entertainer award 'Motormouth' received for his efforts. As always, The Bears viewed the DD with just as much importance as Heat 1, & 8 Bears returned for the last race of the day. A great hit from 331 'Wally' on 79 'Twelly', a previous victim of Nige, saw him pick up the entertainer award for the race, which in turn gave Bears A enough points to win the Entertainers League for the day. All in all a great day for racers & fans alike, a special well done goes out to Trackstar who did a fantastic job with the track. A huge thank you to all the guesting Bears, the pit crews & all the spectators. Birthday A big Happy 60th Birthday goes out to 133 'Karlys' Dad Knocker, from all of The Bears. | Civil War 12 - Meeting Review The Bears first visit to Civil War at Hednesford saw all of our drivers experience a stunning South Win. A close fought war with the victors gaining the win in the 'Tanks' Final/DD, where a 4th from 726 'The Chimp' and a win in the DD courtesy of 521 'Ace Ash' contributed 300 points to secure a Southern victory 1625-725. In previous heats, places were picked up by 133 'Karly' (2nd) and 521 'Ace Ash' (3rd) and unfortunately saw 421 'Nutty Nige' loaded up for a locked diff. 207 'Compo' helped with the Norths demise in Heat 3 when he took out the second from last running Northerner, and solid and consistant racing from 221 'Motormouth' meant at least 4 out of 6 Bears were representing the South in every race. These point winning races coupled with some spectacular hits, namely 'Ace Ashs' t-bone on 185's Granada Estate, which received deafening cheers from Northerners and Southerners alike, meant Civil War was a memorable experience for all those involved. | |
