321 'Wingnut'

Name: Brett Fry

Brett 'Wingnut' Fry, a racer with over 25 years experience raced with the Bears for over a decade before retiring in 2009. Never far from the Bears camp, Brett is now heavily involved in his two sons 'Chatty Man' & 'Wally' racing careers.

Introduced to the sport by his father in law 'Buffalo Bill', Brett raced with the 'Odds & Sods' & 'Hot Rodders Ruff Squad' before joining the Bears & recalls lasting four laps in his first meeting at Smallfield SE Open, a track that would feature heavily in Bretts future career. It was at this track that Brett defines his best banger moment, becoming four times Smallfield Points Champion.

Bretts favourite choice of machinery is a 280c Estate, but has raced some beautiful motors including a Chevy Caprice, Mk10 Jag & a P5. Brett has raced many tracks, Warneton, Ringwood & Nutts Corner to name a few & classes Firecracker or Smallfield in the 80's as his favourite meetings.

The most valuable piece of advice Brett has been given is to "get your car to run before you build & paint it" a piece of advice given to him by a driver he admires Vince Luck, along with him Brett admires Polo, Dave Cranfield & the old fart 'Nutty Nige'.

Living by the motto "race your own race" being a member of the Bears to Brett means "solidarity" & "if you are ever in need there's always someone to help"

An important player in the Bears team back then & very much now, Bretts enthusiasm for the sport will surely see him around for many years to come. Brett would like to thank all the mechanics & the helpers of the Bears.

424 'The Wizard'

Name: Jason Pollard

Jason 'The Wizard' Pollard began his racing career 21 years ago after meeting 'Nutty Nige' when he became his lodger & later becoming his mechanic. Although retiring in 2010 due to lack of time to commit to the sport, 'The Wizards' achievements in those 21 years are great. Racing all over this country & others including Smallfield, Blackpool, Belgium & a Bears favourite Nutts Corner, Jason still notes one track he would like to race - Cowdenbeath, Scotland.

As with many of the present team members 'The Wizard' counts Kings Lynn as his favourite track & a Volvo Estate as his favourite car. Content with his racing credentials Jason's favourite meeting was Icebreaker & doesn't have a meeting on his to list that wasn't completed. Recalling that his best banger moment was his first banger meeting at Ringwood, he also notes that his worst was breaking his leg in a Metro.

The most valuable piece of advice he has been give was to "Enjoy yourself" & "You don't need mirrors" given to him by 'Nutty Nige', Jason also says that 'Nutty Nige' is a driver that he admires as he is still as keen today as he was the very first time he saw him race.

Very much still a member of the team, being a member of the Bears means being part of one big happy family & it is to that family, Nige, Sue & all the lads that he would like to thank.
